One of the central parts of the project has been the research into all those men (and a woman) from the Parish who served in World War One. We drew on several sources as there did not seem to be a single definitive list.

At the time of writing around 180 people have been subject to our research and as a result the project’s book – All the Kingsley Men – features 159 men and a single woman who served in the armed forces.

The book was launched on Sunday 23rd April and as a result of the publicity surrounding the launch, we have identified a further survivor and possibly one or two others. A further period of research has unearthed around 20 more men who served at the wars end.

We have also come into possession of some photos of men we didn’t have pictures of and have five pictures of six men whose identity we don’t know. The release of the online version of our book will more than likely be delayed as it will in effect be a Second Edition updated with further information. Our second edition total is 183 men and 1 woman with over 200 individuals researched over the last 4 years.

Some 18 months after the book launch a second edition has been produced. There will be a strictly limited print run of 50 copies as on this occasion we are self-funded but the book will be available as a download from the link below which will be active and visible from 11am on Sunday 11th November 2018.

Copies will be on sale at St Werburgh’s Church on that date and subsequently via this site. Cost is £5 which covers out costs. Postage can be arranged at an extra charge.
